Bodega Bay Engagement Session : Alonya + Marc

I love engagement sessions because it’s a chance to get to get to know my couples and for them to have a chance to have fun in front of the camera before their big day. On your wedding day you’ll most likely be dressed up in something formal .. so the engagement session is a chance to do something different. We can start off with a “going out” outfit and then move onto something casual, or dramatic! While brainstorming .. I always ask.. what speaks to you ?  Let’s have fun! It could mean a place that has sentimental value or that you’re outdoorsy type and your favorite place is the beach..  or hiking in the woods.. or exploring the city.

For this session Alonya and Marc wanted something dramatic, moody, and by the water. Bodega Bay fit the bill. Nestled along California’s coast, Bodega Bay has so many spots for beautiful backdrops. It used to be a fishing village and here’s a little bit of Hollywood trivia for you.. Hitchcock’s “The Birds was shot here.

But I digress..  the day we set out it was misty and chilly.. but Alonya and Marc are adventurous and they weren’t going to let some cold get in the way.  And actually, some of the best photos come from foggy days.. the atmosphere adds a layer of romance and the sky acts as a giant diffuser that gives a luminous glow to skin tones..We ventured out to the cliffs with the wind and weather were whipping her dress… they played and snuggled tight to keep warm. And the turn out? Gorgeous imagery with all the feels.
